In July of 2009, North Carolina House Bill 2499 went into effect and requires that all users installing new irrigation systems purchase separate water meters for those systems.
Customers who purchase separate irrigation meters will not incur an impact fee for those meters, however irrigation water user fees will be charged at a rate 50% higher than water rates for domestic water meters.
