Notice of Discharge of Untreated Sewage
At approximately 2:20 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, ONWASA became aware of a possible sewer spill. ONWASA crews were immediately dispatched to the area and began recovery efforts with the assistance of contractors.
It was determined that due to a sewer force main failure an estimated 33,900 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled into Wallace Creak along Piney Green Road on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.
The spill has been reported to the State of North Carolina Division of Water Quality. ONWASA will follow all State requirements regarding cleanup, sampling, and notifications.
