The shortfall in donations is significant enough that the Red Cross could experience an emergency shortage in the coming weeks. Please make an appointment to give now to help replenish the blood supply. The need for blood donors with O negative, B negative and A negative is especially urgent.
To participate in a blood drive, donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and have valid photo identification; or 16 years old with parental consent. Eligible blood donors can give every 56 days. Donation process can take up to an hour which includes paperwork, temperature, weight, blood pressure and pulse check. A health history review and hemoglobin (iron) test is also performed. The actual donation takes about 10 minutes, followed with refreshments.
