The Hubert Water Treatment Plant is capable of producing six million gallons of water a day from 15 wells located in the Castle Hayne Aquifer. Treatment processes include greensand filtration for the removal of iron and manganese, ion exchange for the removal of calcium and magnesium, and carbon filtration for the removal of organic compounds.
Chlorine is used for disinfectant purposes, fluoride is added for the prevention of tooth decay, and orthophosphate is added as a corrosion inhibitor. The plant has six million gallons of storage in the two ground storage tanks.
The Hubert Water Treatment Plant provides water to Hubert, Swansboro and areas between Piney Green Road and Swansboro-Belgrade Road.
