The minimum water charge is the base amount charged to every ONWASA customer, and is based on the meter size. Residential customers most often have a 3/4" meter, and there is no difference in cost based on a residential or commercial meter.
Currently the minimum water charge or base water charge is $12.15 per month. This covers the cost of maintaining the line and meter and providing service each month, but does not include any water usage with that minimum amount. Even if no water is used, ONWASA still has costs associated with producing water, maintaining the lines, reading the meters, and the fixed cost of infrastructure and maintaining the treatment facilities year round.
The next term you'll see on your bill is the water usage charge. This is the charge for the amount of water that you use each month. If you have an irrigation meter, you also have an irrigation water usage charge.
ONWASA charges in 1,000 gallon increments. The first 3,000 gallons of water costs $2.80 per thousand gallons, and increases incrementally from there. (Note: there are different charges for customers with irrigation meters.)
The minimum sewer charge is the base amount charged to every ONWASA sewer customer, and is based on the water meter size. Residential customers most often have 3/4" meters, and there is no difference in cost based on a residential or commercial meter.
The minimum sewer charge or base sewer charge is currently $19.75 per month.
You'll also see the sewer usage charge. This is the charge for the amount of sewer that you use each month. This number comes from the amount of water that you use each month. If you have an irrigation meter, you are not charged sewer charges for that water.
Like water, sewer is also billed in increments of 1,000 gallons. There is a charge of $5.60 per thousand gallons of sewer used each month.
If you have not paid your prior month's bill, you will see a previous balance charge on your bill.
A late charge is the amount charged for late payments (more than 30 days late).
